| Anne
has lived in Rogers Park since 1997, after moving back from New
Hampshire. She studied photography at the New Hampshire Institute
of Art (formerly known as the Manchester Institute of Arts &
Sciences) and was a member of a few cooperative art galleries in
New Hampshire. She previously studied Russian and German at Northwestern
and Penn State.
Most of her work has focused on the urban landscape.
Starting the year with a new digital camera has offered much more
flexibility in adjusting to changing light conditions and experimenting
with different ways of rendering an image. The work shown here is
from a new experimental series using Photoshop to create a high
contrast sketch-like version of familiar city scenes. Another new
series melds new and old photographic techniques, using transparencies
generated from digital images to make contact prints using the 19th
century cyanotype process.
Working at a Loop law firm brings her downtown,
where infinite subject material for new work is just outside the
door. She volunteers for several local organizations, including
Chicagoland Bicycle Federation (www.biketraffic.org)
and the Site of Big Shoulders (www.sobs.org).
Photography, web design, and bike activism offer an interesting
mix of volunteer opportunities and part-time work.
