In the spring of 1999, I spent 3 months living in La Antigua, Guatamala, learning Spanish and traveling to the small Mayan villages in the misty Sierra Madre mountains. I traveled by foot, chicken bus and motorcycle, getting to know some of the Maya. I became close to two brothers, Arturo and Oscar Macu, who let me into their lives. They took me to two weddings, into their corn fields and into their homes. These images are a documentary of the friendships I made. (All photographs have copies)
