| I was born and raised in rural Massachusetts
where, as a child, I had access to pristine woods and fields. This
intimate contact with nature has consistently influenced my work as
an artist. From my early renderings of local landscapes, to the introspective
mixed media collages of more recent work, I have been compelled to
capture the beauty and spirituality of nature. My influences have
changed since my move to Chicago and an urban environment. Nature
still is an element in my work, but my inspiration now comes from
jazz improvisation and the vibrant urban landscape as well.
My education includes; a BA in Fine Art from Emmanuel College, Boston,
MA followed by classes at the Massachusetts College of Art, the
Worcester Art Museum School, the Boston Center for Adult Education,
and the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative. I also achieved 48 credits
in Music/Theater/Dance from Dean Jr. College, Franklin, MA and completed
a two-year program of intensive study in Acting and Directing at
the Trinity Rep Conservatory, Providence, RI.
I worked for years as a recreation therapist and a teacher / performance
artist, then became involved in the field of decorative art, doing
murals and faux finishes in residential interiors. I am currently
self-employed as a decorative painter and fine artist, with a secondary
music career as a singer / songwriter in the genres of folk, jazz,
and cabaret. In November of 2001 I released my first jazz CD called
"First Steps" available at the Jazz Record Mart and www.CDBaby.com.
I have been exhibiting my work in group and solo exhibitions for
28 years with numerous awards to my credit. (See Resume)
