DeRosa, David
(Painter)
With a background in drafting, printmaking and graphic design, illustration seemed the next logical jump for David DeRosa who, after focusing his studies on technique, composition, color theory and anatomy, graduated from San Francisco's Academy of Art University in 1997. During the next six years, the artist functioned as a freelancer while cultivating his more ambitious pursuits and passions. In the last few years he has gone back to his roots and reemerged with a style he calls: 'Pop Impressionism.' “They are after images of life as I perceive it – people I meet or admire, the banal yet poignant landscapes I encounter, personal iconography and social-political commentary all stripped down to their simplest forms.” David’s influences include: M.C. Escher, Alphonse Mucha, J.C. Leyendecker, Coles Philips, Rothko, Mondrian and Rodin, of whom he is a fourth generation student.

DeRosa, Gwendolyn G.
(Writer)
Currently, I am working on a short novel, approximately 200 pages long, about the growing up experiences of two girls in small-town Oklahoma in the late 1990's. So far, the book is much like The Unthinkable Thoughts of Jacob Green or The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I have been working on this particular story for over a year, but have been writing stories all of my life. I graduated from Oral Roberts University with a Literary Writing degree in 2003 and have been recovering since then. Writing, for me, is the best way to know oneself. I've been on the road to discovering my voice during the four years of living in San Francisco. And I hope that this recent move to Chicago will further my creative pursuits.

Kahrl, Christina
(Writer)
I'm a New York Times-bestselling editor and author of the Baseball Prospectus, the leading annual MLB season guide, and managing editor of the Baseball Prospectus site. I've contributed to, edited, and published several other books on baseball and football history, and written columns for Salon, Slate, SportsIllustrated.com, ESPN.com, Playboy and Playboy.com, and the New York Sun. That gets me into doing a good amount of TV and radio work. I've also written about LGBT issues (and done some lobbying), and used to write a homes column for the Washington Blade, all before recently moving back to Chicago. I'm a graduate of the University of Chicago (BA) and Loyola University (MA), and selected the lucrative field of History at both schools. And, as somebody who grew up reading Edward Gorey's books, I'm tickled pink to be living in his original neighborhood, including walking the dog to the Lake's shore to greet the sunrise.

Obas, Nadege D.
(Painter, Photographer)
I’ve always known I wanted to be an artist and when my mother gave me my first 110 camera I knew what I wanted to be passionate about, an artist was born and I loved the whole idea of being creative/different. I’m originally from Boston and transplanted here in Chicago almost a year ago. My work is an extension of my personality where it stems from the imagination and thoughts of my inner most secrets, desires and fears. I describe what I feel when I capture those moments of people, nature and abstract objects. I spent several years refining my skills in design, photography and painting and now I’d like to collaborate all outlets of my work together to inspire beyond measures of great diversity in my upcoming projects. My work can viewed at www.nadegeobas.com.

Russell, Megan E.
(Illustrator)
Megan Russell was born and raised in painfully sunny Sarasota, Florida. When it reached time for college, she realized her skin would most likely burn off if she were to stay in the state any longer. She fled to Baltimore, MD where she attended the Maryland Institute College of Art and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her work is generally based on Fairy Tales, Myths, and Fables and heavily influenced by Art Nouveau, Theatre, Ballet Russe, and the Golden Age Illustrators. She works mainly in pen and ink, digital, watercolor, and intaglio. And her work is known for its distinctive patterning and expressive nature.

Serb, Robert J.
(Sculptor)
I’ve been a Ceramic Artist for seven years. Almost all of my work is functional, though much also incorporates sculptural elements. I enjoy decorating pieces with whimsical or humorous themes; nothing sparks a conversation quite like handing a guest a coffee mug shaped like a butt, or with a face that’s sticking out its tongue. You may have seen some of my work last August when I had a booth at the Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival.

Suarez, Dave
(Photographer)
I've worked for over 25 years as a photojournalist, often concentrating on concert photography. Over the years, I have used my photojournalism skills to shoot the occassional wedding. In 2004 I got married and found a whole new appreciation for the wedding tradition. I love to shoot weddings now. It's great to be part of a wonderful celebration each week. There’s nothing more exciting than capturing that perfect moment. My aim is to work unobtrusively and avoid shooting the usual stiff posed pictures. I rely on fast lenses that allow me to shoot with available light whenever possible. I'm available for any type of portrait work from in home family portraits to golf outtings. Please check out my website at www.davesuarez.com Thanks Dave
