On My Parents' One Hundredth Wedding Anniversary

Explosive language and an evocative narrative style turns the nostalgic memory play upside down in this haunting elegy to a couple's ups and downs, in and out of the dance world of 1920s France. The House Theatre's Matt Hawkins directs the world premiere of ensemble member Jesse Weaver's explosive new play. Showing in our Studio Space, 1520 W. Jarvis Ave.

M. Butterfly
March 14, 2008, running through April 19, 2008.

M. Butterfly is a stunning piece that BoHo has been wanting to produce from the start, and we are thrilled to bring this exquisite tale to life as only BoHo can! David Henry Hwang's M. Butterfly is one of the most celebrated of recent American plays, and the first by an Asian-American to win universal acclaim. It was first produced in 1988 and won numerous awards, including the Tony Award for Best Play of the Year. Based on a true story that stunned the world, M. Butterfly opens in the cramped prison cell where diplomat Rene Gallimard is being held captive by the French government—and by his own illusions. In the darkness of his cell he recalls a time when desire seemed to give him wings. A time when Song Liling, the beautiful Chinese diva, touched him with a love as vivid, as seductive—and as elusive—as a butterfly.
