Here is a photo of my 7 year old, Rottweiller/Chow Mix, Deidre ( dede ). We are at the exit of the ski lift on top of Spirit Mountain located in Duluth Minnesota for the 2004 FIM Grand Prix World Trials Championships, this event is held every two years in the United States. This year I covered this event as a journalist for CYCLE U.S.A and www.trialscentral.com.
Behind us is one of my other trusty companions, my "03" SHERCO 2.9 ( 290 cc ) Motorcycle. For those who know me, I have another dog, Cota, she isn't allowed at anymore trials events, she has been banned for running in front of competitors and on the course. She always finds a way to get loose while I'm away from the paddock ( fancy name for the van and camping area ) no matter how secure the method. Dede has one trials quark, she doesn't care for noises of the other manufacurers bikes, if she hears the sound of a Montesa or Gas/Gas or Beta she chases the bike. Each bike has a different sound, and she is only use to SHERCO, She also gaurds the van when I am out on the course so no one gets anything out of the food and drink cooler. And yes, the bike doesn't have a seat. If you are sitting down on the bike while trying to compete, you are doing something something wrong.
