Where were you born and raised?
Chicago, Rogers Park
What are you passionate about and how are you fulfilling your passion about?
I am passionate about dogs, owning one and trying to figure her out. I am also passionate about buildings, walking or driving around, looking at the city. I always have my camera with me to take a picture, or to make a note about some place to come back to paint. Then to convey what I actually see into a painting is a great feeling.
Which five people (living or dead) would you invite to a dinner party?
Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Martin Buber, and Rilke, and I would just sit around and listen to them.
If you had one month to live, how would you spend that month?
Right where I am, but I would stop worrying about anything and I would dispense with any agenda.
What is something that you have learned about life?
Please yourself first, then in that calm happy state, charity and compassion follow naturally.
What do you like to stay home to do?
Sit in a comfortable chair, and just do nothing, or maybe do the crossword puzzle.
What do you like about Rogers Park?
Incredible familiarity, the number of people I know and run into daily, my own personal history here, and of course, the lake.
What place in Rogers Park, past or present, has special meaning to you? The pier at Pratt Ave, on the lake, particularly in the past, during my teenage years. I still spend lots of time on the beach, but mainly in the winter letting my dog run.
What two establishments in Rogers Park besides your own do you tell your friends about?
Currently, I talk alot about Lakeside Cafe. I also like an Indian Restaurant called Hema's Kitchen on Oakley, just north of Devon.
