Our Vision
The Common Cup is a community coffee shop. We want to serve a consistently excellent cup of coffee or tea, a wonderful pastry or dessert, delicious soup, mouth watering ice cream and an experience of friendly customer service that makes you want to stay. We will feature local art work on the walls, local singer/songwriters, and other community events like book clubs, knitting circles, drum circles, support groups. Since The Common Cup will be an integral part of revitalizing the Morse Avenue business district, we hope we will always be known as a business that cares about the community and is supported by the community. We are excited about all of the new people we will be meeting and hopefully calling friend.

The Tip Jar
Every month our tip jar proceeds are designated to be given to a local, non-profit organization that serves the citizens of Rogers Park. To qualify the organization must be a registered 501C3 non- profit whose mission states that they are serving the residents of Rogers Park and who have an annual report and /or 990s to show us how much of their expenditures go to benefit the community and how much is administrative/fund raising. This month our tip jar proceeds are designated to the Howard Area Community Center youth program.

The Story
My husband, John, and I moved to Rogers Park almost six years ago and fell in love with this community. We love the closeness to the lake, the public transportation possibilities, the cultural and culinary opportunities, and, most of all, the diversity of people in this neighborhood. Though John has been working in the community as a pastor and community developer, my job always took me away from my community, sometimes for days at a time. I've dreamed for a long time of opening a coffee shop and after visiting a particular independent shop in Seattle in April of 2006 I came home determined to make my dream come true. With the help of Dev Corp North we were able to locate our current space at 1501 W. Morse and we were on our way. Please join us at The Common Cup. Thank You The Common Cup has truly become a community café. We are so grateful to the Rogers Park Community for it continued patronage. We are excited about all the possibilities for new relationships and strengthening our Rogers Park community with our work. Please join us at the Common Cup.
