2008 AOW Winners:

We would like to thank our five Judges for selecting the winners of the “Wall Painters “this year for the 15th Annual Artists of the Wall Festival which concluded today the 15th of June, 2008.  As artists they really enjoyed and were honored to be selected for this unpaid opportunity.
They are comprised of one Art Student, three Professional Artists, and one lawyer/artist who was a “wall” winner a few years ago.
Some would do a quick sketch to bring back to the judging table as a reference to share with the other judges.  I watched them work together as they collaborated on the winning works of art --- all showing interest for particular works in each group.  They would vote & discuss in a jury method and then came to an agreement.
Winners listed below need to bring a proper picture ID to our field house to pick-up your prize and sign the receipt of prize form show you have received your prize.  Children need to bring a parent.
Thanks,
Gary Neeley Rubow, committee member – judge selection

About the Artists of the Wall Festival
artist of the wall festivalFounded in 1994 by a group of creative residents and community leaders in Chicago's diverse Rogers Park neighborhood, the ARTISTS OF THE WALL FESTIVAL today exists as one of the most unique festivals in any corner of the world.

Each summer, on Father's Day weekend, a concrete bench along the Lake Michigan shoreline, between Pratt Boulevard and Morse Avenue, is transformed into a 500-foot canvas. For two days, artists of all skill levels gather to paint mini-murals that are enjoyed year-round by the thousands of people who pass by on foot and bicycle.

artist of the wallWe invite artists and art lovers alike to attend the Artists of the Wall Festival at Loyola Beach Park. This festival not only contributes to the beautification of our neighborhood, but also to greater community awareness and activism. Celebrate with the artists who literally come together to leave their mark on the wall.
